If I Can't Have You, Jeffrey Washington, Michael Brooks and Dorothy Washington

Dorothy Washington
In season two, If I Can't Have You is about the murder of Michael Brooks by Dorothy Washington in
the state of Florida. The love story of Michael Brooks and Dorothy Washington does not end well for Michael Brooks. This is the most complicated murder story I have ever seen in my life, involving many parties. Michael was only 29 years old. He was lovers with Dorothy, who was in her forties. He was killed by Jeffrey Washington, her ex-husband. Jeffrey claimed self defense in the murder at his trial. He was convicted. The state claimed he was jealous his ex-wife had taken a lover. Dorothy had shot her ex-husband with the same gun prior to the killing. Washington went on the run for two days and did not seek medical treatment for his own injury.

Dorothy Washington was not charged with anything related to this murder. This episode is described as a steamy romance between Michael and an older woman ends tragically when Michael is murdered in her apartment.

Take Away

While Michael Brooks is dead, and Dorothy Washington is serving , there are lessons here for anyone willing to it a thought. While I believe in the 2nd amendment, perhaps not having a gun available with super easy access is a good idea. Two individuals were shot in this instance, with one of them dying. If the gun had not been there, there likely would have been a physical altercation and an arrest, a much less tragic ending. The gun meant for self defense was used against them, which is what often happens.
